Leopards to play in Confed Cup

BLACK Leopards, the first non-Premiership club to qualify for a continental tournament, will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup.

"We would like to announce that we will participate in the tournament," said Lidoda Duvha chairperson David Thidiela yesterday.

The Limpopo outfit qualified for the tournament after reaching the Ned- bank Cup final where they lost 3-1 to Orlando Pirates in Nelspruit last month.

After Pirates chose the more lucrative African Champions League by virtue of winning the Absa Premiership, Leopards believe the Confederation Cup will help expose their players.

"We want our players to experience international football, which we strongly believe will also benefit Bafana Bafana and other national teams," said Thidiela. Leopards will receive a R1million Premier Soccer League grant for taking part.
