Parents say sorry to Rooney's wife for sexcapades

The parents of two girls linked to the Wayne Rooney sex scandal are mortified by their daughter's actions

The parents of the woman at the center of a sex scandal involving Wayne Rooney have apologised to the England striker's wife, Coleen.

Several tabloid newspapers claimed Sunday that Rooney cheated repeatedly on his pregnant wife Coleen last year with a 21-year-old  prostitute identified as Jenny Thompson.

Now the woman's parents, Hamish and Dana Thompson, have issued a statement saying they "would never condone what has or may have happened".

The Thompsons say they "would like to offer our most sincere apologies to Coleen Rooney and her family".

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that Rooney allegedly had a "threesome" with "Juci Jeni" and a friend of hers, Helen Wood (aged 23).

Her father, music lecturer Stephen Wood, has also spoken out publicly. He said was "desperately sorry" for the heartache caused by his daughter's reported actions, and spoke of the family rift after she left home aged just 16.

Despite the scandal raging around him, Rooney scored England's opening goal in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Switzerland in an European Championship qualifying - and what's more, it was his first goal for England in nearly a year.
