Sorry about Zuma headline

ON MARCH 22 2012 we published an article by Sifiso Moshoetsi, of the Presidency, with the headline "Zuma is a gift to mankind".

The headline was not in quotation marks.

On the front page of the same edition, we inserted a puff with the words "Zuma is a gift to mankind", in quotation marks and attributed it to the Presidency.

In the article Moshoetsi, communications research chief director in the Presidency, had written thus: "Amongst the utterances in his tirade, we are told by (Prince) Mashele that President Zuma is less of a leader solely on the basis that he is uneducated. What a shallow and narrow analysis! We will not start counting the many outstanding leaders in the history of our struggle who have in their lifetimes been a gift to mankind."

The Presidency has pointed out it was unwarranted to attribute the puff to it as it never said so verbatim. We regret the error.
