Suspect in murder of North West girl‚ 4‚ remanded

The Vryburg Magistrate’s Court in the North West has postponed a murder case of a 34-year-old man accused of killing a four-year-old girl reported missing two weeks ago.

Patrick Makoro‚ 34‚ was remanded in police custody until his next court appearance on October 10.

He was arrested on Saturday after police received a tip-off from a Huhudi‚ Vryburg resident that he might be the one who killed the victim.

Makoro told the court that he will be defending himself at his next court appearance.

He has two previous assault convictions and one of fraud.

The body of Nomthandazo Talakase was found last week in bushes near the Monoto-Mosetlha Informal settlement in Huhudi township.

According to North West police spokesman Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone‚ Makoro was arrested on September 24 after Nomthandazo’s body was discovered by a boy who was hunting.

He then alerted the elders who informed the police.

Upon arrival at the scene‚ the police found the body with a missing left hand.

The case was postponed for further investigations.
