The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo have rejected local government election vote results in Thabazimbi.
Independent Electoral Commission provincial electoral officer Motsiri Ramafalo told journalists at a media briefing at the results centre in Polokwane that the party had lodged a complaint about IEC officials in the region’s behavior when counting results.
“So far we aware of one objection lodged by EFF in Thabazimbi [in] which they requested the commission to rerun elections in ward 7 of Thabazimbi.”
Ramafalo said the party had raised several reasons for their complaint‚ including an allegation that IEC officials took unguarded breaks during counting.
“They also said officials were allowing some people to vote more twice in the area... I am not sure how it could have been possible.”
Ramafalo said the IEC would not release results for the ward until the matter was resolved within seven days.
