"We live in a post-conflict society where hope is not lost," One Young World ambassador Amukelani Mayimele asserts.

Mayimele, who quit her accounting career to establish development agency Zayrah (which means seed) to help others, believes all Africans deserve to be happy. She is now shouldering the burden of making a positive change in the lives of others.

Mayimele, 27, of Welkom in Free State, is working with One Young World, a non-governmental organisation which is a network of young people with a burning desire to change the world.

Zayrah seeks to alleviate poverty and motivate and inspire Africans.

The agency has meanwhile organised a youth event, the Youth Family Congress, which is due to take place in Tanzania next year.

The congress aims to provide a platform for the youths to discuss issues affecting them.

Among her leadership roles Mayimele facilitated a youth dialogue conference on the Fiji Islands, delivered a lecture at the University of the South Pacific, attended the African Finance Journal Conference in Namibia and a One Young World summit in Switzerland last year.
