Selebi's prosecutors to be investigated

THE South African Revenue Services has laid a complaint against the prosecution team in the Jackie Selebi corruption trial.

A statement issued by the national prosecuting authority yesterday said the complaint, which relates to irregularities against certain NPA officials, will be forwarded to the Hawks for investigation.

"The national director of public prosecutions, Advocate Menzi Simelane, received complaints from the attorneys representing Mr Jackie Selebi and from SARS which relate to allegations of irregularities against certain NPA officials," NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga said.

"The complaints relate to irregularities to the manner in which the investigation against Glenn Agliotti by SARS was conducted."

The names of the officials will be released only after they have been notified.
