'Mouse' inventor

DOUGLAS Engelbart, the inventor of the computer mouse, also gave it its first name.

But "X-Y Position Indicator for a Display System" was not very catchy, so the first users of the computer mouse called them first "turtles" and later "rodents". This then became the cuter-sounding "mouse".
