Tough one for SA team

THE South African Women's cricket squad are pitted against a tough West Indies team in the opening match of the inaugural ICC Women's World Twenty20 in England today.

THE South African Women's cricket squad are pitted against a tough West Indies team in the opening match of the inaugural ICC Women's World Twenty20 in England today.

They are in Stream A with New Zealand, Australia and West Indies, the same teams they played in the World Cup in Australia in March.

SA will go into this opening match with confidence after thumping Sri Lanka by 26 runs on Monday and Pakistan by 37 runs on Tuesday in their warm-up matches.

Team manager Zola Thamae said: "We are ready to take on the best teams in this prestigious competition. Reaching the semifinals will be a bonus for us."

She believes fielding is going to be critical against the West Indies in today's encounter.
