Local police are looking for two men who assaulted a foreign businessman during a robbery at his shop.

The businessman, who is believed to be a Somalian, was attacked yesterday morning while helping customers in his trading store at KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga when two men entered the shop at about 8.30am

"They pretended to be customers but one of them assaulted the victim with a spanner on the head causing him to fall on the floor," said Mpumalanga police spokesperson Superintendent Abie Khoabane yesterday.

"The other man closed the door and the men forced the businessman to give them cellphones as well as cash."

He said the robbers also took cellphone vouchers.

The robbers ran away from the scene leaving the injured man on the floor and frustrated customers behind.

The 43-year-old businessman was taken to the local hospital for medical treatment.

Attacks on foreign business people are gradually increasing in Mpumalanga.

"Anyone with information that can help us in our investigations regarding attacks on foreign business people must contact the nearest police station," said Khoabane.

No arrest has been made on the latest robbery and police investigations continue.
