Whitey Ntombizodwa Tshabalala's sudden death has left her family shocked. She died in her sleep at her Orlando East, Soweto, home on Friday.

Her grieving husband, Zakhele Tshabalala, said: "I discovered that my wife was dead when I tried to wake her to say goodbye. She did not complain about anything when she went to sleep the night before."

Tshabalala was born on July 12 1956. She attended Khaya Community Primary School and matriculated at Orlando High School.

Tshabalala qualified as a nurse after training at Kalafong Hospital. After working at various hospitals and clinics, she became an integrated management of childhood illnesses educator.

At the time of her death she was chief professional nurse at the Shanty Clinic in Orlando West.

Tshabalala is survived by her husband, three children, a granddaughter, mother and two sisters. She will be buried tomorrow.

The service starts at the Orlando East Methodist Church at 8am. She will be buried at Avalon Cemetery.
