The Taliep Petersen murder trial adjourned early yesterday afternoon after accused number two, Abdoer Emjedi, complained that his body was aching and he was feverish.

Cape high court judge Siraj Desai had earlier suspended proceedings for about two hours to allow Emjedi to consult a district surgeon.

When the court reconvened prosecutor Shareen Riley handed in a note from Dr Paul Theron of the Somerset Hospital.

It said Emjedi "is stressed but able to continue with court proceedings".

Emjedi's advocate, Laureen Abrahams, said Emjedi's whole body was aching. He wanted to see a private doctor because he disagreed with the district surgeon's diagnosis.

"Does he have a fever?" asked Desai.

"I don't know, I didn't examine him," replied Abrahams. - Sapa
