The Namibian Football Association has organised a farewell gumba in Windhoek tonight for the Brave Warriors going to the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana.
The event, which will take place at the Windhoek Country Club at 6pm, is expected to be attended by senior government and community leaders.
The Warriors, under the watchful eye of Dutchman Rie Schans, arrived back in Namibia yesterday after a series of friendlies in west Africa.
John Muinyo, president of the federation, will use the event to urge the Brave Warriors to improve on their 1998 performance when they were making their debut.
In 1998, Namibia were eliminated in the first round, including suffering a 4-1 drubbing by Bafana Bafana under then coach Jomo Sono.
Namibia named a final 23-man squad for the tournament in Ghana, which runs from January 20 until February 10.
Namibia are in Group A and begin their campaign with a tough game against Morocco on January 21. Also in their group are Guinea and the hosts Ghana.
