Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates defender Jimmy Tau suffered an embarrassing shibobo when he was swindled out of R2-million, allegedly by a prominent businesswoman.

Tau, who owns an investment company called Jimmy Tau Inc, opened a case of fraud in December alleging that well-known businesswoman Stella Buthelezi took money from him in return for a shareholding in a new business venture, but disappeared into thin air.

Hawks spokeswoman Carol Molamu confirmed Tau opened a case and said investigations were at an advanced stage.

Tau, who ventured into business after he hung up his soccer boots in 2013 and made millions from government tenders, said he was in a meeting when contacted for comment.
