Kwaito artist Mshoza's real boyfriend has stepped up to claim his woman.

Mahangi "Bhuti" Mabunda, 35, is a businessman with interests in pharmaceuticals and other investments.

Mabunda has been in a romantic relationship with Mshoza, whose real name is Nomasonto Maswanganyi, since late last year, before she was linked with controversial shebeen owner Daniel Mahlaule.

Mabunda said he confronted Mahlaule at the weekend but only got "stupid explanations" from him.

Mabunda said he was frustrated that his woman was romantically linked to another man.

"This is affecting me badly. It is not good when you have your woman's name mixed with such things. Even my family look at her as if she is a bad person and ask me why I am associating myself with such a person. They were asking 'what kind of a person is this?' But she is a good person. It feels bad when people say I can't afford to give her a good life, it's not true," he said.

Mshoza said: "My life is affected in a bad way. I have a man and how does it look when it's said I'm busy with another man? I have my 'in-laws', how are they supposed to look at me? That guy [Mahlaule] is not even close to being my type. He hired me to make an appearance at his show last year.

"I only saw him that one time. I'm tired of my name being used in such things, I have a decent man who is not hungry for fame and who has his own money, even though I have my own things going on because it's not like I depend on anyone's money."

Mahlaule said he never dated Mshoza and accused her of creating lies about him for "recognition".

"I don't need her. I'm married and I have plenty of children. Her boyfriend even called me and said he is richer than me and I'm nothing."
