Anga's label may pay back cash after no-show

The management company behind former Generations actor and Qina hitmaker C "NaakmusiQ" Makubalo has promised to pay back money for or reschedule three shows that he missed last month.

The shows cost the Nelson Mandela Bay event organisers more than R50000 after his time was booked and paid for.

Afrotainment's Ntokozo Khathi, who is responsible for booking artists, said the company was in communication with the event organisers. "We are looking for solutions. We are not sure whether we will reimburse or reschedule another performance," she said.

Thembinkosi Tembani, who booked Makubalo to perform in Uitenhage on April 29 said the last time Khathi took his calls was on April 28.

"We are thinking of opening a criminal case against him [Makubalo]. We paid him 50% upfront as well as his accommodation, flights and marketing."

Tembani is owed close to R27000.

Thembekile "Fresh" Mdlazilwana said he had paid Makubalo R20000 in advance for an event on April 26 and spent R10000 on flights, accommodation, sound hire and posters.

Makubalo said: "These people [event organisers] don't even liaise with me or pay me for that matter; they pay the label and then the label pays me."
