Msutwana's staying power is earning him respect with fellow contestants
HE'S got a soulful voice like no other on Idols Season 8 that makes him stand out from other contestants.
After surviving three eliminations Monde Msutwana is surprising many as he continues with his Idols journey.
Sherkinah Donnel, the young vocal powerhouse, was eliminated in Top 6 from the show last Tuesday at the Mosaiek Theatre in Fairland. Unlike Msutwana she was seen as the cross-over candidate most likely to reach the Top 3.
Redeeming himself with the U2's anthem, One, and Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River this week has propelled Msutwana out of the danger zone.
"I found myself in the bottom half on three occasions and it hurt. I owe it to my fans and family for keeping me in contention," he said.
He might not be the most popular contestant, but Msutwana's staying power is fast earning him respect with fellow contestants.
In the past his repertoire of old-school songs, though well-executed, sometimes failed to make a lasting impression on the voting public. He is now emerging as a dark horse en route to causing an upset.
Msutwana notes that being in the music business for the past five years as an employee for Sheer Sound has given him an added advantage.
He still remembers his first audition when he dazzled the judges with Lionel Richie's All Night Long classic to nearly messing up in Sun City's theatre phase.
