Hollywood dream comes true for mom

A CAPE TOWN mother has been named as one of the 25 semi-finalists of a global singing talent search

Lynn Brooks, 33, of Fairways, Cape Town, who is an Avon sales representative, is the only South African who made it through to this stage.

"It's like a dream come true. It means a lot to me," Brooks said yesterday.

Brooks, a mother of two, only started as an Avon sales representative in January 2011.

She is leaving for Hollywood on July 15 to record her final performance video for the next stage of voting.

Brooks and the other semifinalists will get to meet some of the Avon Voices celebrity judges, receive professional voice coaching, and get a star quality makeover courtesy of Avon.

The judges include songwriter Natasha Bedingfield and six-time Grammy award-winner Fergie.

The 25 semifinalists emerged as the most talented singers out of 6000 videos submitted from more than 60 countries and remain in the running to be one of two women - one an Avon representative - selected to have the opportunity to record a professionally produced international album.

To date, over 2,2 million votes have been cast from around the world for the first and second round.
