THE once popular presenter of Limpopo commercial radio station Capricorn FM, Lethabo Mathatho, has became part of a long list of the private station's former presenters to join the SABC

Mathatho had worked for Capricorn FM since its inception in 2007 until her contract was not renewed in 2008.

She had been in the wilderness until the establishment of the Greater Tzaneen community radio station (GTFM), which went on air on February 7 this year. She was appointed the new station's programmes manager.

Sowetan has reliably learnt that a deal between her and the management of Thobela FM, broadcasting in Sepedi, had been signed and sealed.

Mathatho will present a breakfast show with Sebasa Mogale, who had been doing the show alone. On top of her breakfast show responsibilities, Mathatho will also present the station's Top 30 programmes on Saturdays, according to a source close to the station.

"Mathatho is already part of Thobela FM and is reporting for work doing observations and is set to start going on air on Monday next week," the source said.

A source at GTFM, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Mathatho had joined Thobela FM.

But Mathatho, who is in her late 20s, said: "I've just resigned from GTFM and I am unemployed."

She said she had not signed any contract with any radio station and would only comment after she had done so.
