How boycotts came about

A BOYCOTT is "the act of voluntarily abstaining from, using, buying or dealing with an organisation or country as an expression of protest".

In 1880 people were struggling to pay rent, so a landlord offered them a 10percent reduction. Some tenants demanded a 25percent.

Estate agent Charles Boycott tried to evict them so they refused to have anything to do with him. This was the first boycott. - listverse.com; wikipedia.org; thefreedictionary.com
