Spy that killed them all

I'LL BE frank with you, once again - I like Angelina Jolie. No, correction: I love Angelina. But most of my infatuation with her has to do with her arresting looks.

Title: Salt

Director: Phillip Noyce

Screenwriter: Kurt Wimmer

Genre: Spy thriller

Cast: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Daniel Olbrychski

Duration: 1 hour 40minutes

Age restriction: PG-13 for intense violence and action

         --------------------------------

Mhhh. those pouty lips, big round eyes on a perfectly chiselled face, the tattoos (remember them in Beowulf?) on a body to die for. let's end it right there.

And I'm not the only fan she has in the male fraternity - come out of the closet, will you? Forget it girls, I know you hate her because of her daring persona on screen and in real life.

But I love Miss Jolie even better when she's a mean machine, like in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Wanted.

But you'll see the best of this best action lady in Salt from today and you can't afford to miss it. Salt is her screen name and she's a married ass-kicking and ass-shooting Russian mole who was groomed from childhood to kill.

At the same time, she's a CIA super assassin who seems to have a bullet-proof body most of the time, except when she's shot once while on the run from her CIA colleagues, Winter (Liev Schreiber) and Peabody (Chiwetel Ejiofor), following a high-speed chase. Of course, she still manages to bob and dive, murdering hordes of people.

She has all the trickery needed in an action star - she climbs walls, devises explosives, ducks observation cameras with skill, wears disguises, carries a venomous spider and her small frame packs a hammer of a punch and kick.

I couldn't help noticing that her character is similar to that of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in Mission Impossible. In fact, Cruise was approached to play Edwin A Salt but couldn't accept because of other commitments. I'm so glad he didn't.

Salt opens with her being severely tortured. Later at the CIA offices, she interrogates a Russian defector, Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski).

Orlov kills the officers guarding him and escapes, only to meet Salt later after she has eliminated the Russian president.

Yes, Orlov and Salt work together to destroy the US. It's confusing why she kills a Russian president when she's a Russian spy.

It's actually baffling who Salt is and why she's executing everyone.

The Kurt Wimmer script is dramatic and exaggerated and suitable. Every actor and actress pulls their weight, thanks to the frenetic yet aesthetic direction by Phillip Noyce.

It's time to get salted with Angie and get a piece of some action.
