Transfer extension request

SAFA has sent a letter to Fifa on behalf of the PSL requesting that the transfer window be extended to the end of day on Monday.

The transfer window for the 2014/15 season officially ends at midnight tonight.

Because it is a Sunday, when the PSL offices are closed, the league announced earlier this month that the deadline would be brought forward to Friday.

Neither Safa nor PSL officials could confirm if there had been any response from the world governing body.

Safa spokesman Dominic Chimhavi confirmed that Safa had agreed to send a letter after being contacted by the PSL on Thursday, though he could not say if Fifa had responded.

"There was a communication between the PSL and Safa," Chimhavi said.

"The PSL chairman, Irvin Khoza, contacted the Safa president, Danny Jordaan, who acceded to the fact that because the deadline falls on the weekend, it should be extended.

"He requested that a letter be sent to Fifa.

"I'm not sure if there was a response."

However, PSL spokesman Luxolo September said he had no knowledge of the PSL's request to Safa.

"I tried to get hold of either the PSL chairman or CEO [Brand de Villiers] to try to shed light on this, but could not," September said on Friday evening.

"So I cannot say anything. As far as I'm concerned, the window is closed."

The PSL officials were believed to have been busy with clubs' last-minute signings on Friday.
