David Tlale’s ‘Coming to America’ line - PHOTOS

Designer David Tlale is making great waves in the fashion world and becoming a constant feature at the New York Fashion Week.

This week Tlale deserves accolades after showcasing his line at the Lincoln Center, New York.

His show also included a guest appearance by male supermodel Tyson Beckford.

Tlale is renowned for his love for elaborate designs, which are both daring and elegant.

This line is an undeniable statement to the world however playing into the stereotype of the film “Coming to America.”

Models took to the runway in tribal-inspired prints and footwear from Emy Mack Shoes.

We are proud of Tlale for “diversifying fashion” but worry about the not-so-flattering stereotypes that persist for Africans that he is playing into.

The show was inspired by his African heritage.

In an interview with fashion spot Tlale said: “Giving women back their power and equipping them with a strong and confident sense of allure, without losing their essence and femininity.”

Fashion Week continues through Thursday at venues across New York City.
