This the swimming pool in Pinetown, near Durban, that has produced two Olympic champions, six Games medals and even a princess.

The Marbelite in the Lahee Park municipal pool needs to be reapplied, but this is where Chad Le Clos trained before London 2012 and Rio this year.

He has bagged a total of four medals - one gold and three silver - a record for any South African, with the previous best being three medals, achieved by only four others, including swimmers Penny Heyns and Roland Schoeman.

Other famous products of Lahee Park are Terence Parkin (200m breaststroke silver at at Sydney 2000), Darian Townsend (gold from the 4x100m freestyle relay at Athens 2004) and Olympian Charlene Wittstock, now the princess of Monaco.

All were trained by Graham Hill.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation has sponsored upgrades at the 25m pool, such as a new boiler to heat the water and a roof.

The Olympic-sized 50m pool at the complex is unheated and uncovered.

There are reports that a massive facelift is planned for the facility, with money to come from the foundation and the local council.
