SA lasses mark Women's Month in Rio

A total of 43 female athletes will represent SA in eight sports at the Rio Games that coincide with Women's Month. Cyclists Ashleigh Moolman and An-Li Kachelhoffer will be the team's first women to contest a medal event when they saddle for the road race final on Sunday (from 12.15pm SA time).

Athletics - Caster Semenya (800m), Tsholofelo Thipe (400m), Carina Horn (100m), Alyssa Conley (100m, 200m), Justine Palframan (400m), Wenda Nel (400m hurdles), Dominique Scott (1500m), Lynique Prinsloo (long jump), Sunette Viljoen (javelin throw), Anel Oosthuizen (20km walk), Lebo Phalula, Irvette Van Zyl and Christine Kalmer (all marathon).

Canoeing - Bridgitte Hartley (kayak)

Cycling - An-Li Kachelhoffer, Ashleigh Moolman (both road)

Equestrian - Tanya Seymour
