Tefu Mashamaite scores first goal of the season in Sweden

Tefu Mashamaite scored his first goal of the season on his comeback to the Hacken side as they defeated Helsingborg 2-0 on Sunday.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender finally returned after almost five months on the sidelines and netted his team’s second goal with a header from a corner.

Mashamaite was withdrawn on 68 minutes after a clash of heads with‚ ironically‚ former Chiefs teammate Matthew Rusike‚ but he told reporters after the game there was no lasting damage.

“I got a minor concussion and did not want to risk anything. But it's OK‚ I'm not injured again‚” he said.

He also hailed his return‚ having been left frustrated by a long-term injury that came at a time when he was hitting top form for his team.

“It was a real setback. I had done well. But I needed to be strong and it's really fun to be back and playing with the guys‚” he said.

Mandla Masango was on the losing side for Danish club Randers as they went down 1-0 to Aalborg in their second game of the season.

Masango had netted last weekend in his club’s opener‚ but drew a blank this time round.

Lebogang Phiri missed Brondby’s 2-0 victory at Silkeborg on Sunday for what the club termed “family reasons”. He has yet to sign a new contract in Denmark.

There was also still no sight of Surprise Ralani for newly-promoted Lyngby.

Granwald Scott was a second half substitute as Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava continued their 100 percent start to the season with a 3-2 victory over Zlaté Moravce.

And former Bafana Bafana left-back Ricardo Nunes played for Polish top-flight side Pogoń Szczecin in their 1-1 draw with Korona Kielce.

And in friendly matches played at the weekend‚ Kamohelo Mokotjo scored for FC Twente as they drew 3-3 with Al-Taawon from Saudi Arabia.

Mokotjo has decided to stay with Twente after the club had their relegation to the second tier on administrative grounds reversed in the Netherlands.

Ntuthuko Radebe played for Belgian top-flight side Eupen as they lost 3-2 to Spanish La Liga side Malaga‚ while it was a awful afternoon for Ayanda Patosi and his Lokeren side as they went down 4-0 to Newcastle United.
