Sono pinning hopes on Luyolo Nomandela

The arrival of Luyolo Nomandela at struggling Jomo Cosmos will prove a major boost when he is available to play in January‚ said coach and owner Jomo Sono.

Cosmos had loaned the player from Mamelodi Sundowns in August‚ but the two clubs did not finalise the agreement in time for the registration and so the 26-year-old attacker has been on the sidelines for the past few months.

“But when he is back in action he is going to make a difference‚” insisted Sono. “He’s been training with us for the last two months and you can see he is happy here.

“He’s working well and has integrated well in training and I think he will make an impact once we can field him in PSL games‚” added Sono.

Nomandela is in his second season on Sundowns’ books since signing from Free State Stars. Last season he played in just two matches for the club before they sent him on loan to Moroka Swallows for the second part of the season but he was unable to help the Birds from being relegated.

Sono said Cosmos were also looking at adding to their squad a player who Senegal currently competing at the African Under-23 Championships. He would give no further details.

But the Cosmos boss said he did not expect to make too many additions when the transfer window opens on January 1.

Cosmos‚ who are 14th in the Absa Premiership standings‚ finish the year away against Free State Stars at Goble Park in Bethlehem on Saturday‚ December 19.
