"We are ready for the challenge": Mathoho

Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs central defender Eric Mathoho says he is ready to make the nation proud ahead of tomorrow’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritania in Nouakchott (7pm SA time).

Bafana left for Mauritania yesterday at lunch time, with Tsepo Masilela as the only player missing after he failed to pitch to get his knee injury assessed by the national team's medical team.

Mathoho admits that is happy to be back in the international action citing that a win is a must on Saturday.

"When your team is doing well it rubs off on your performance in the national team," Mothoho told the official Kaizer Chiefs website.

"If your team is not doing well, it affects your performances and you can’t undo that at the national team level.

The 25-year-old defender missed the recent matches for Bafana Bafana due to family commitments and injury.

"Most of the present players in the camp are familiar faces. Preparations have gone well and we are ready for the challenge," he said.

Bafana, who are in second place in Group M, will have one training session before tomorrow's match.
