Khune should take pay cut

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says his side can afford the services of highly rated former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune only on a condition of a pay cut.

Clubless Khune is currently searching for a team to play for ahead of the new season.

"I believe Khune is the number one keeper in the country. It's not easy to sign a player. If you want to sign a player, you must also afford him," Mosimane told Kickoff official website.

Despite having spent his entire career with Chiefs, Khune has been linked with big-money moves elsewhere, including Mamelodi Sundowns.

"I'm not saying we can't afford him but it must be market related. Look at Elias Pelembe, he had to leave and take a pay cut at Bidvest Wits. I wish he could have taken the pay cut here”.

Khune was slammed by club chairman Kaizer Motaung for being “disrespectful” and holding the club to “ransom”.
