Ayabulela in limbo at Ajax

National under-23 team defender Ayabulela Magqwaka may be back in Cape Town after his loan spell with SuperSport United ended but he has not been in pre-season training with his club, Ajax Cape Town.

Magqwaka and Ajax were at loggerheads before he left for United in the January transfer window.

The Urban Warriors claimed he was missing training sessions and as a result did not pay his salary for December, but the youngster denied going absent without leave.

Magqwaka was frustrated at not getting game time and took Ajax to the Premier Soccer League dispute resolution chamber before he was finally released to join Matsatsantsa on a six-month loan deal. But he did not get regular game time under coach Gordon Igesund.

Now he is back in the Mother City and says he has sorted out his differences with Ajax, but is unlikely to be their player when the 2015-2016 season gets under way next month.

"I am still an Ajax player, but I am not training with them and, to be honest, I do not know why," Magqwaka said after landing at OR Tambo International Airport to join the national under-23 side in camp this week.

"My agent and Ajax are still sorting out a few things. But my issues with Ajax were sorted out before I even went to SuperSport.

"I enjoyed my time at SuperSport. If it was up to me I would go back there. I gelled well with some of the experienced players there. Now I have to wait on my agent to see what is the next move."

Magqwaka's agent, Lizwe Mthethwa, said Gauteng clubs and Chippa United have shown an interest in the player. Mthethwa added that his client still has four more years left on his contract with the Urban Warriors, but he is not in coach Roger de Sa's plans.
