Ertugral’s been keeping a close eye on Black Aces while abroad

New coach Muhsin Ertugral will only be arriving at Mpumalanga Black Aces on Friday‚ several days after the completion of his Fifa assignment Down Under and more than two weeks after the club began their pre-season preparations.

Club officials said Ertugral was expected at work on Friday for his first session at Aces’ training ground in Johannesburg.

He has taken over as coach from Jacob Sakala but has been in New Zealand as a member of Fifa’s technical study group at the Under-20 World Cup. Ertugral’s job was to analyse matches and to contribute to the official post-tournament report.

Aces’ preparations for the new season have‚ so far‚ been mainly conducted by physical trainer Elsa Storm‚ who used to work with Ertugral at both Kaizer Chiefs and Lamontville Golden arrows.

Ertugral has kept a close eye on all activities‚ despite the distance‚ having left a detailed programme to be followed and consulted daily via Skype with his new staff.

Aces are expected to put several players up for possible loan deals over the next days but will not be making any major transfer decisions before Ertugral’s return and an opportunity for him to look over the players.

They have signed goalkeeper Shu-aib Walters from Maritzburg United and midfielder Mpho Matsi from University of Pretoria.
