Thabo "Super Eagle" Sonjica hopes to win the WBC Silver featherweight championship at Mdantsane Indoor Sports Centre tomorrow night - and that it will open doors for his career.

Sonjica relocated from Eastern Cape to Johannesburg in his pursuit of a fresh start and new trainer Nick Durandt will be shouting instructions from his corner for the first time when he faces Ghanaian George Krampah tomorrow.

"I will use the WBC Silver belt to make a statement to the WBC championship committee that I deserve bigger belts," said Sonjica. "Victory will be the beginning of bigger things for me. I know my capabilities as a fighter."

Sonjica said he has prepared for all possibilities and ensured that he sparred with fighters with different fighting styles during his preparations for his encounter against Krampah.

"I have been sparring with various partners, including IBO featherweight champion Lusanda Komanisi and Sipho Taliwe. So I will go in the fight fully prepared for anything that Krampah throws at me. I am not making promises of a knockout because this fight is at another level, but defeat is not an option."

While Sonjica has 14 stoppages in 20 wins and two defeats, Krampah - who will be fighting for the first time outside of his native Ghana - has 11 short-route wins from 14 victories, against one loss. Their bout will top the bill that will be organised by Rumble in Africa Promotion.

Durandt said they have done their homework and will be ready for Krampah.
