History not on Usuthu side at Aces

Steve Barker says AmaZulu winning all 10 of their remaining matches this season is a realistic target, but they will likely only have to be victorious in six to retain their Premier Soccer League status.

Barker takes his side to Mpumalamga Black Aces tomorrow night, buoyed by the 5-2 thrashing of SuperSport United last time out.

That was just a second success of the season for the Durban club, but the coach feels it could be a turning point and provide the impetus to get them to safety.

"If we continue putting in such performances, we can win all the matches that we have remaining in this league," Barker told reporters.

"The confidence from the boys is high and we have what it takes to go back to winning ways."

Confident they may be, but AmaZulu have a horror record at Black Aces that sees them without a win - or even a goal - in their past trips to Mpumalanga.

Overall, Black Aces have won six of the previous eight competitive meetings in all competitions since Amazayoni were promoted for the 2009-10 season, with Usuthu managing just a single success in 2010.

Barker remains upbeat: "The other teams ahead of us are not doing well but we must focus on our journey."
