SUPERSPORT United coach Gordon Igesund got his first full look at his new striking options following the mad January transfer window trolley dash.

United played in a pre-season friendly kick-about involving Moroka Swallows, Mpumalanga Black Aces and hosts Bidvest Wits in testing Johannesburg heat yesterday.

With the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs forward Kingston Nkhatha and New Zealander Jeremy Brockie, who join Bradley Grobler, Lebogang Manyama and Dove Wome, Matsatsantsa have evidently made attack their core focus for the second half of the Absa Premiership.

Add Daine Klate, when he is fit, Mothusi Gopane and Thuso Phala on the flanks and you would have one of the more fearsome attacking units in the league.

Given that cohesion is one of the things one cannot buy, Igesund said the new acquisitions were there to bolster the already functional unit and were not a sign of a complete overhaul.

"Cohesion will be there after the few remaining friendly games before the league resumes in a week's time [against Free State Stars].

"The guys got a good workout [yesterday] and I'm happy that Grobler scored a couple of goals and Brockie too. The players are starting to gel," Igesund said.
