Tinkler's the right man for Bucs - Pitso

ERIC Tinkler is good enough for the Orlando Pirates job, says his old Bafana teammate and now Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane.

Tinkler was appointed caretaker coach following the sudden departure of Vladimir Vermezovic, who resigned a day after the Buccaneers' 2-1 home defeat by Maritzburg United last Tuesday.

However, Tinkler's first match in charge was one to forget as Pirates were beaten 2-0 by their bitter Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"I saw the first 45 minutes of the Soweto derby, and Pirates were very good. I wasn't able to watch the entire match because we then had to travel to our game [against Free State Stars].

"Eric did very well, but you know how it is, we all have to prove ourselves," Mosimane explained. The two come up against each other in an Absa Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium tomorrow night, with Sundowns still hoping to catch log leaders Chiefs, while Pirates are desperate to get back into league contention.

Mosimane put aside the rivalry between two of South Africa's top clubs to throw his weight behind Tinkler, who will hold the interim position until the end of the season.
