Relegation heartache for Ralani

THERE was heartbreak for South African forward Surprise Ralani at the weekend as his Swedish side Landskrona were relegated.

Ralani, who has been missing since June with a knee injury, now faces an uncertain future but is likely to leave the club rather than play in the Swedish third tier.

Like May Mahlangu and Tokelo Rantie, Ralani is a product of Farouk Khan's Stars of Africa Academy and is highly rated in Sweden, but has battled with injury since joining Landskrona in 2010.

A central striker or winger, it is almost certain he would have progressed into the Swedish top tier by now, and like Mahlangu and Rantie, potentially national team honours too, were it not for repeated spells on the sidelines with injury.

Landskrona were held to a 0-0 draw by promoted GIF Sundsvall in their final game on Sunday to finish second from bottom.

Victory would have been enough for a place in the relegation play-offs.

Daylon Claasen featured in the final 10 minutes for German Bundesliga II side 1860 Munich as they moved out of the relegation zone with a handsome 3-0 win over Bochum.

It is a first win in over a month and comes on the back of four straight losses for the side.

Ricardo Nunes started again for Polish top-flight side Pogon Szczecin as they played to a 1-1 draw at Gornik Zabrze.
