JOEL Mogorosi scored but Ofentse Nato proved the villain for Botswana as some of the Premier Soccer League players featured prominently in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the weekend.

Bloemfontein Celtic's Mogorosi scored a shock breakaway goal for Botswana to give them a surprise lead away in Tunisia in their Group G game on Saturday night.

But there was to be no fairy tale win for the Zebras as their north African hosts came back to win 2-1.

Nato, who Bidvest Wits have loaned out and play in new Indian Premier League, handled the ball in the last minute of the game in Monastir to allow Tunisia to win with a penalty.

But the Tunisian equaliser from Wahbi Khazri in the 74th minute should have been stopped by Platinum Stars goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe, who made a complete hash of the save.

Denis Onyango, who has seen little playing time in the PSL as back-up at Mamelodi Sundowns and Wits over the last seasons, proved he is still up to a high standard with several good stops as Uganda won an unexpected point away from home against Ghana.

His opposite number, Fatau Dauda of Chippa United, put up a scratchy showing in the 1-1 draw in Kumasi.

University of Pretoria striker Geoffrey Massa was dropped by Uganda for their trip to Ghana because he did not want to go on the training camp in Niger at first but rather join up directly with the squad in Ghana, press report said.

"Sources within the Cranes set-up claim that the stardom bug has got Massa to the point he now thinks he can choose which games to play or not," reported Kampala's Red Pepper newspaper.

But Massa has been training with the Ugandan reserves who stayed behind and could come into contention for Wednesday's match at home to Guinea.

The return of Collins Mbesuma to the Zambian side was not enough to see them held to a disappointing goalless draw at home by Mozambique, who has Elias Pelembe in their starting line-up.

Mbesuma came on as a second half substitute but was unable to help Zambia find the elusive goal.

Kennedy Mweene of Sundowns and Chris Katongo of Wits started but Mukuka Mulenga, who has just joined Celtic on loan from Sundowns, replaced captain Katongo. Helder Pelembe of Orlando Pirates came on for Mozambique after halftime.

Getaneh Kedebe of Wits was only used for the second half of Ethiopia's 2-1 loss at home to Algeria in Group B while, Sadate Ouro-Akoriko and Dove Wome started on the bench for Togo as they lost on Friday to Guinea.
