NATIONAL First Division side Lamontville Golden Arrows' push for promotion at the first attempt has seen them sign two more players from Namibia.

Shaun Bartlett's side have snapped up goalkeeper Max Mbaeva, who was out of contract after leaving Namibian side African Stars, while defender Freedom Puriza joins in a straight transfer from the same club.

The 25-year-old Mbaeva is a Namibian international, but is currently regarded as the second-choice to another former Abafana Bes'thende keeper Virgil Vries, now with Maritzburg United.

He will provide competition for fellow gloveman Nkosi Gumede, with the Durban club seeking to replace veteran Arthur Bartman, who left the club following their relegation last season.

The 28-year-old Puriza, who once had trials with Kaizer Chiefs in 2010, is also a Namibian international having returned to the national side last year after an absence of six years.

Puriza has signed a two-year deal while Mbaeva has penned a three-year contract.

Meanwhile, Arrows' fellow NFD campaigners Jomo Cosmos have recruited a Nigerian striker whom they are convinced will play a big role in their quest for promotion.

Adegbite Rasaq Akanni has already joined Cosmos for their pre-season training.

Cosmos owner-coach Jomo Sono said: "I did not want to talk about him until he had signed with us, otherwise other clubs with big money would have promised him astronomical figures."

Akanni is the second striker signed by Ezenkosi after Ralph Matema.
