NAMIBIAN side Black Africa and Botswana outfit Gaborone United are in the country for their respective weekend CAF club competition clashes with Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, but both have been hampered by difficulties in their build-ups.

Black Africa take on Chiefs in the CAF Champions League at FNB Stadium tomorrow night having had little meaningful preparation at all.

Kickoff is at 8.

The Namibians, an amateur outfit whose players and coach Brian Isaacs all have jobs outside of football, do not have their own training field in Windhoek and over the weekend were forced to use a substandard local school field to prepare for the clash with the Soweto giants.

This has been blamed for slight injury niggles to a number of their players, including experienced winger Willy Stephanus.

The club returned to the Independence Stadium on Monday and Tuesday, but as their players were arriving after work, had to cut their sessions short when darkness fell as they could not use the stadium lights.

It is a sign of the troubles faced by the amateur side, who come up against an Amakhosi side with the luxury of preparing for the game at their Naturena base.

Better news for Black Africa is that they have received a donation of R100000 from First National Bank Namibia to help cover some costs of the two-legged tie.

Gaborone United are still wondering whether they will be able to honour the home leg of their fixture against Matsatsantsa.

They have arrived in SA minus midfielder Gobonyeone Selefa, who was not in possession of a passport, for the first leg in Atteridgeville tomorrow night (8.15 kickoff).

They need to raise just over R200000 to cover the costs of hosting Matsatsantsa in the return leg and have so far drawn a blank from the sports ministry, leading club officials to admit they might need to forfeit.

Gaborone are led by coach David Bright, no stranger to SA football after spells in charge of Bay United and Santos.

"We are going all out to attack, looking for an early goal and then, if need be, sit back in the second half and stop them from scoring," Bright told local media.
