AFTER dismissing Mark Mayambela and Mkhanyiseli Siwahla amid allegations of ill-discipline, Mpumalanga Black Aces have signed yet another controversial player with a chequered past - former Bafana Bafana captain Mbulelo "OJ" Mabizela.

The journeyman impressed coach Clive Barker after a two-week trial, and the former Tottenham Hotspur and Valerenga defender finally joined his new club this week.

Mabizela has been without a club since leaving Chippa United after the Cape Town side was relegated to the National First Division at the end of last season.

AmaZayoni yesterday said on their website that they were extremely happy to have signed the talented defender, who is the youngest ever player to captain Bafana at the age of 20.

"He is a quality, no-nonsense central defender, and his vast experience will be a huge asset for him to mentor some of our younger players," read the statement.

Mabizela, who has also played for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, said: "Obviously, I'm happy to join Black Aces. They have a professional set-up here, great facilities and every player will be excited joining a team of this calibre.

"I still have a lot to offer, and it will show during my stay here at AmaZayoni. We have a great squad here, especially the defenders, and that will push me to work even extra hard to earn my starting berth in the team."

The player is likely to make his debut when Aces take on Ajax Cape Town in an Absa Premiership match at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday. Other clubs that Mabizela played for included Maritzburg City, Platinum Stars and BidVest Wits.

Siwahla and Mayambela were dismissed last week following allegations that they attended a training session under the influence of alcohol. The two players have disputed the allegations, and Siwahla has since announced that he was quitting soccer.
