DEFENDING champions Orlando Pirates are not worried that Kaizer Chiefs are sitting pretty atop the Absa Premiership log, saying their plans for a third successive title were well on track.

Pirates and Bafana Bafana star left-back, Thabo Matlaba, is adamant Bucs will show University of Pretoria the stars when they meet in a league match at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 8.15pm.

Matlaba said they wanted a comprehensive win to intensify their championship challenge by reducing the gap between them and Chiefs.

The two sides are separated by five points, with Chiefs on 47 from 22 matches, having played one game more than Pirates.

Pirates hammered AmaTuks 3-1 in the first round in Pretoria in October, where they ended the league newcomers' unbeaten run at home in the league.

"We are now intensifying the challenge for the league title. The Ghost (Pirates supporters) are used to celebrating the league title victory at the end of the season. It's one habit we intend making sure does not disappear in our camp," said Matlaba.

"Chiefs do not worry us; the most important thing for us is to win all our remaining games. Some people have already written us off, tipping Chiefs to win. Our dream of winning a third consecutive league title lives on. AmaTuks have been blowing hot and cold; we can not afford to underestimate them," said Matlaba, who described the superb long- range curling effort he scored for Bafana against Central African Republic as the best of his career.

The 25-year-old, who used to play as a striker at Free State Stars and as a midfielder at M Tigers in Tembisa, is thrilled to have helped Bafana get their 2014 World Cup campaign back on track. "It's one goal I will never forget in my life, the best I have ever scored. I'm hoping to keep on scoring superb goals for my club and Bafana Bafana."
