Kenya have healthy foreign contingent

COACH: Henri Michel
COACH: Henri Michel

KENYA will have nine foreign-based players in their squad for the friendly against Bafana Bafana later this month, including the new signing by recently relegated Santos.

Coach Henri Michel, formerly at Mamelodi Sundowns, has named several Harambee Stars veterans in the side, including giant striker Dennis Oliech, who troubled the South African defence when the two sides met at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in February last year.

Others are Inter Milan's McDonald Mariga and his brother Victor Wanyama, who played for Scotland's Glasgow Celtic on Tuesday night in their Champions League victory in Moscow.

Mariga's return signals the end of a year-long stand-off with Kenyan officials over unpaid allowances.

There is also a return for veteran goalkeeper Arnold Origi, who plays at Ullkisa in the Norwegian lower leagues.

Others are Christian Bwamy (Fram Larvick, Norway), Ayub Timbe (Racing Genk, Belgium), Patrick Oboya (MSK Ruzomberok, Slovakia), Jerry Santos (Coastal Union, Tanzania) and Brian Mandela, the teenage defender who has just signed for Santos in Cape Town.
