Maluleka guns for Jubatha

SABELO Jubatha's reign of terror will end next month.

This prediction came from Sydney "Skeleton" Maluleka yesterday, ahead of his battle with the man who holds the South African featherweight title. The fight will be on the undercard of the fight for the vacant WBA junior middleweight female title between Noni Tenge and Layla McCarter on September 30.

The tournament will be organised by Sijutha and Mamali Boxing Promotions at Alexander Golf and Country Club in East London.

Maluleka, from Malamulele in Giyani, fights out of the Westside Boxing Academy in Westbury, Johannesburg.

He promised to fight until the bitter end.

"It's personal," he said yesterday. "This man beat my stable-mate, Marcel Japhta, in two rounds in 2010. There is animosity between our camps. I won't allow fans down there to intimidate me.

"I will punish him right in his backyard. I'm not like the other boxers that he has beaten. I'm not a fighter like him, but a skilful boxer."

The 31-year champion, an ex-prisoner, was stripped of the title last year because he could not meet the deadline to make a mandatory defence, but he won it back on December 9 after stopping Simphiwe Tom in four rounds.

Jubatha outpointed Wonga Ntoyakhe in a voluntary defence on March 30.
