A leading British wrestler who was ruled out of the London Olympics after failing a drugs test was banned for two years.
Myroslav Dykun, who won a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, tested positive for amphetamines at the British senior championships in March.
UK Anti-Doping said Dykun has been banned from the sport until April 29, 2014, with the start of the suspension dating to when he was provisionally suspended.
"Our pre-games prevention program was put in place to ensure that only clean athletes represent Britain and this case proves that the system is working," said Andy Parkinson, chief executive of UKAD.
Dykun was born in Ukraine but moved to Britain in 2003 as part of the country's initiative to get Eastern European athletes to help homegrown wrestlers develop into medal prospects. British Wrestling then announced the imports would be eligible for the Olympics, angering British-born wrestlers.
Britain will have only one wrestler - Ukraine-born Olga Butkevych - at the London Games. The team was due to be awarded three host-nation places but two berths were removed after the British Olympic Association said the performance of British Wrestling in the run-up to the Olympics failed to live up to the standards it proposed in 2011.
