Masango coaches Vaal

UNIVERSITY Sport South Africa yesterday complimented soccer greats for coming to tertiary institutions to assist in the development of the beautiful game.

This comes after former Giant Blackpool, Vaal Professionals and AmaZulu star Geelbooi "Gomma Gomma" Masango joined Vaal University of Technology as coach.

Ussa soccer marketing officer Kenneth Neluvhalani said they were delighted to see more players helping to fast-track development at the universities.

"The former professionals are making a huge difference in Ussa football and we hope to have two or three players selected for Bafana Bafana soon," said Neluvhalani.

Also involved at Ussa level is former Kaizer Chiefs and Highlands Park player Kenneth "The Horse" Mokgojoa, who is working at Monash University in Roodepoort. Former Bafana defender Sipho Ndzudzo is the coach of Cida Campus University.

Masango, a teacher by profession, said: "When I was approached to coach the university's soccer side, I did not think twice about it because I have always offered my expertise.

"There is talent in abundance in the Vaal Triangle that needs to be unearthed and developed properly.

"Our club is campaigning in the SAB regional league and University Sport South Africa's AmaTuesdays, which is one of the fastest-growing development leagues."

The Tuesday league is played by tertiary institutions in Gauteng.
