KAIZER Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are adamant they will beat Bidvest Wits and Maritzburg United respectively to intensify their challenge for the Absa Premiership title this weekend.

Chiefs are away to BidVest Wits at Mbombela Stadium tomorrow night (6pm), while Bucs welcome The Team of Choice at Orlando Stadium on Sunday (3pm).

Amakhosi, who are still without the injured duo Siphiwe Shabalala and Reneilwe Letsholonyane, are under pressure after playing to a 1-all draw with Jomo Cosmos last weekend.

Coach Vladimir Vermezovic is upbeat about their chances against The Clever Boys, whom they defeated 2-1 at Soccer City in August last year in the first round.

"We need to get more serious (about winning our matches) out there if we are to stand up and be counted come the end of the season."

Amakhosi will look up to the likes of Lehlohonolo "Wagga Wagga" Majoro, George Lebese and Tlou "Spanner" Molekwane to show Wits the stars again - this time in their own back yard.

From Wits's camp, club director George Mogotsi said: "It will be a tough one but I'm confident Wits will come back three points richer."

In Orlando the next day, Pirates will be out for revenge after the Team of Choice became the first one this season to beat the defending league champions. Bucs captain Lucky Lekgwathi said: "We showed on Wednesday by beating Platinum Stars that we are serious about defending the league title.

"We just need to be more aggressive and tighten the defence. This is our turn to embarrass United after they beat us in the first round match."
