Likoena out to oust Sao Tome

LESOTHO have vowed to bounce back and show Sao Tome e Principe the exit door during the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Maseru on Sunday.

Sao Tome beat Likoena 1-0 in the first leg of the qualifiers at home at the weekend. Lesotho were without rising star Montoeli Sonopo, who was not released by Spanish club Athletico Madrid.

Lesotho Football Association communications manager Baba Malephane said: "Our boys underestimated Sao Tome and paid a big price.

"In football, there are no longer minnows. They have learnt a lesson - that you need to treat all the teams equally.

"I have no doubt Sao Tome will be offered a free football lesson that they will never forget.

"We are playing at home and cannot afford to disappoint Basotho. We want to offer them a memorable new year gift in the form of a comprehensive win."

Neither Sao Tome nor Lesotho, who are rebuilding their national teams after a two-year self-imposed exile, took part in the qualifying campaign for the 2012 Nations Cup.
