ROCK solid defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has made a timely recovery to join Mamelodi Sundowns ahead of the start of the Absa Premiership second round.

Mphahlele has been out of action since October.

"I pulled a muscle a day after we played to a 1-1 draw with (Lamontville Golden) Arrows. It has been frustrating being a spectator but I'm happy that the injury has healed," Mphahlele said.

Downs, who went into the festive break on top of the Premiership log, meet on Thursday for a training camp, which will include an international tournament in Polokwane.

"I started training last week and everything is fine. There is no pain and I'm looking forward to training with the rest of the team on Thursday," Mphahlele said.

"I will have to fight hard to get back into the starting line-up. The team has been doing well and we are winning, which is good for our league title ambition.

"I will have to redouble my efforts at training," said the former junior national teams captain.

Mphahlele, a product of Jerry Ramohlale's academy in Turfloop, tips the Brazilians to claim the Premier Soccer League for Pretoria.

A Pretoria side, SuperSport United, has won three of the last four league titles.

"Sundowns are in a class of their own under coach Johan Neeskens. Every player who is fielded always puts in a 150 percent performance.

"We just need to maintain the form and treat all clubs with equal respect to ensure the league title comes to our cabinet. There are no longer big and small clubs and we have to work hard to attain our goal," he said.
