Mphela bemoans inconsistency

JUST like his teammates at Mamelodi Sundowns, Katlego Mphela is tired of under-achievement and has vowed to halt years of despair for the club.

Despite his several personal achievements, Mphela hasn't won any title since he joined Sundowns four seasons ago.

But the prime striker says the current crop are ever more determined to finish the season with silverware.

To that end, Mphela will spearhead the Sundowns attack against Maritzburg United on Sunday at Loftus Stadium (kick-off 3.30pm) and in months to follow as the Brazilians take another shot at the league championship.

Sundowns will be playing for dear life in a match they need to win to keep tabs on log leaders SuperSport United.

"We haven't won a major title in a while, and that remains a concern," said Mphela.

"Yes, our lack of consistency has been undoing most of the good work we've been doing in the league. But we are determined to turn things around," he said.

Placed fourth with 19 points, Johan Neeskens's side have mastered some consistency until they were knocked off their stride by a 3-0 Telkom Knockout defeat to Moroka Swallows a fortnight ago.

- Also on Sunday, AmaZulu host Black Leopards at Moses Mabhida (3.30pm).
