Grobler surprises on debut

TURKEY-based striker Bradley Grobler has firmly raised his hand to declare himself ready to partner Katlego "Killer" Mphela in the Bafana Bafana frontline.

Grobler made a memorable debut for Bafana by scoring in their 2-1 defeat against Zimbabwe in an international friendly in Harare on Tuesday night.

"It has always been my dream to play for Bafana Bafana and I'm grateful to coach Pitso Mosimane and his technical staff for affording me the opportunity to play," he said.

"I have gained a lot of experience playing in Turkey and I'm now a better striker. I'm more wiser in terms of positioning and shooting.

"It will be great to partner Killer or any of the strikers selected," said Grobler, who left Platinum Stars in August to join Goztepe Izmir in Turkey. Grobler is the son of SA football legend Les Grobler.

Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane said: "Bradley is a rising star and I'm happy he scored against Zimbabwe on his debut.

"We need a striker to partner Katlego. I still appeal to South Africans to recommend any striker who can assist Katlego in scoring goals for the country."
